Abstract

Hurricane Fern caused pronounced changes in the profile configuration of the central Texas barrier island system on September, 10, 1971. It caused as much sediment removal as Hurricane Celia. Partial recovery of the beaches began several days after the storm with shoreward migration and partial welding of small swash bars.
