Abstract
The number one detriment to water quality in the greater Houston watershed is the destruction of natural habitat. Habitat is being destroyed at an ever increasing rate as Houston sprawls outward..... We need to decide which habitats are most critical in terms of water quality, flood detention, wildlife resources, etc. And we will have to explore how we can finance the preservation of remaining critical natural resources in our region. The task is not as daunting as it might first appear. I examine a number of examples that with just a little imagination could be applied in Houston.
