Abstract

Wetland restoration in Galveston Bay has been primarily limited to salt marsh, dominated by Spartina alterniflora. The Brays Bayou Urban Wetland Restoration project will create 3.5 acres of freshwater wetlands to treat local stormwater runoff, and will include a freshwater tidal marsh. This last type of tidal wetland has been so greatly impacted in Galveston Bay that existing remnant sites are scarce and are usually dominated by exotic species.
