Abstract
This field guide includes all Charophyta (stoneworts), Bryophyta (mosses and liverworts), Pteridophyta (ferns and fern allies) and Spermatophyta (seed-bearing plants) whose photosynthetically active parts are permanently or, at least, for several months each year submerged in freshwater or floating on the water surface. Marine and exclusively brackishwater plants have been excluded.
