Abstract

The identification and evaluation of dredged material disposal ideas offered by the public and other resource agencies are being handled by the Beneficial Uses Group (BUG) to help develop a locally preferred disposal plan. BUG intends to maximize beneficial uses of dredged materials in Galveston Bay guided by the philosophy that dredged materials are resources that can have a net positive environmental effect. The paper discusses the evolution of the beneficial uses of over 200 million cubic yards of dredged materials in Galveston Bay, Texas
