Abstract

In the Galveston Bay watershed, runoff pollution is the number one source of water pollution in most bayous. Many homeowners do not realize that fertilizer and pesticides from their yards can run untreated directly into bays and bayous, affecting the health of fish and other wildlife. This brochure gives tips on reducing use of these chemicals in home landscaping, plus recommendations on shrubs, trees, and ground covers that require little maintenance
