Abstract

This table contains information on the hazardous waste activities and drainage basin characteristics for estuarine areas in the U.S. portion of the Gulf of Mexico. The estuaries in this table are comprised of one or more U.S. Geological Survey hydrologic catalog units with approximately twenty-six or more hazardous waste disposal sites under active consideration by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) for removal or remedial cleanup action or further evaluation and investigation. Organized in this way, the data provides the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) with a method to identify those coastal water bodies that may be potentially most affected by hazardous waste disposal activities.
