Systems analysis of Galveston Bay: a major step towards a controlled environment.

Galveston Bay's pollution problems are certainly not unique. Similar ones exist in every industrialized country in the world. But the fact that within the Galveston Bay area is the nation's third largest seaport, one of the world's most important petro-chemical centers and an urban population of 2,500,000, which is expected to double by 1990 and triple by 2020, has placed such a strain on conflicting demands and multiple uses of the bay system that an environmental inventory, then regulations enforcement and monitoring of established water quality standards, becomes a critical goal.
