Abstract
This user's manual is intended to provide both the water quality modeling specialist and the nonspecialist alike with sufficient information to operate the nitrogen models for the Galveston Bay estuarine system. These mathematical models compute steady-state organic-, ammonia-, and nitrate-N concentration distributions over a two-dimensional grid framework of Galveston Bay and the upper Houston Ship Channel. The nitrogen model(s) account for wastewater discharges, freshwater inflows, tides, and numerous other environmental influences. Such models are useful in making engineering assessments of alternative water quality management programs.
