Review of the western Atlantic Triglidae (Fishes).

This paper presents the results of an extensive comparative study of all western Atlantic fish species in the family Triglidae (Sea robins). By the precise use of meristic characters together with characters previously neglected, as well as characters of the spines as correlated with size, the distinction and identification of the species is achieved. A key to all western Atlantic triglid species is provided, as well as descriptions, synonymies and other pertinent comments. Three new species plus two new subspecies are described.
