Abstract

The State of Texas continues to actively pursue the development of a comprehensive coastal management plan for the State's public lands. Some of the major issues which are being addressed in this plan are coastal erosion, beach access, and wetland loss. The purpose of this report has been to describe types of Federal assistance available for erosion control projects and to document the various studies and activities that the Corps of Engineers has recently been involved in for addressing erosion problems along the Texas coast. This report is intended to provide decision-makes background information necessary to prioritize erosion threats on the coast and develop a conceptual management plan for short and long term coastal erosion control projects for the Texas Coastal Management Program.
