Abstract
Special Places of Texas is intended to highlight some of the significant areas of our state that need to be conserved. It is not a comprehensive inventory of every place in the state that has a high ecological or recreational value. The purpose of the report is to raise public awareness about places that need additional conservation measures and build public support for the conservation of these and other areas. Through raising public awareness about the plight of the special places in this report, we hope that the citizens of Texas will become strong voices for the conservation of all the special places in the Lone Star State.
