Isotopic and elemental characterization of colloidal organic matter from the Chesapeake Bay and Galveston Bay
MetadataShow full item record
This article examines the occurrence and distribution of colloids within the Galveston Bay and Chesapeake Bay environments in an effort to determine nature, composition, sources and fate. Values for colloidal organic matter (COM), colloidal organic carbon (COC), dissolved organic carbon (DOC), dissolved organic matter (DOM), particulate organic carbon (POC), and total organic carbon (TOC) are analyzed. It is hypothesized that terrestrial COM is rapidly removed from the estuarine environment and that marine or internal sources of COM dominate.

Aufwuchs and sediment fouling rates in flow-through aquaria receiving a heated effluent from Upper Galveston Bay, Texas. 7. Annu. Meet. World Mariculture Society; San Diego, CA (USA); 25 Jan 1976 Parker NC; Strawn K (, 1976 197)Developmental rates of the Aufwuchs community on glass slides, plastic and asbestos plates, and sedimentation rates were determined in flow-through aquaria located in a greenhouse. These aquaria, used to culture selected ...
