Abstract

This publication is presented in two volumes and is intended to provide high quality scientific information to coastal managers for critical decision-making. The first volume consists of a project summary and an annotated bibliography of selected literature pertaining to the restoration, creation, and enhancement of Spartina alterniflora marshes in the United States. This bibliography includes planting techniques, establishment of vegetation, assessments of habitat value and functional equivalency. The second volume includes an inventory of 787 of these marshes and a directory of human resources. The marshes have been incorporated into a database using MICROSOFT EXCEL. They are sorted alphabetically first by state, second by county, and third by the bay in which located.
