Abstract
The proposed action is the designation of a site for the ocean disposal of a total of 41.6 million cubic yards of construction material and from 3.71 to 5.46 million cubic yards of maintenance material dredged annually in conjunction with the U.S. Army Engineer District, Galveston, Texas City Channel Project, Texas. The major adverse environmental impact of site designation is the burial and expected high mortality of the benthic infaunal community within the discharge portion fo the disposal sites.
