Ciguatera seafood toxins
MetadataShow full item record
Ciguater recorded history , as indicated by Mike Capra in his chapter, dates back to the voyages of Captain Cook. In more recent history, the number of reported cases and the public awarencess of ciguatera has dramatically increased. Several factors have perhaps contributed to this increase, including growth of the seafood industry, more frequent travel by tourists, recent accent on the consumption of seafood, and better diagnosis of teh ciguatera syndrome. This volume attempts to bring together a summary of some medical, legal, and scientific aspects of this enigmatic disease, ciguatera. As such, it should be useful to the doctor, lawyer, and researcher and provide not only a brief encapsulation of what is known, but also stimulate new ideas.
