Abstract

This progress report attempts to summarize the information obtained in the first eight months of the project. The report is divided into three major sections: 1) laboratory results, 2) model development, and 3) work remaining. The laboratory studies have concentrated on direct measurements of sediment oxygen demand (SOD) and nitrogen kinetics. The model development work includes updates to the steady-state model and the development or adaptation of new models to address vertical dimension, and dynamic aspects. A model of sediment processes is being developed, along with a reaeration submodel.
