Abstract

Management of water quality in the Houston Ship Channel - Galveston Bay Complex involves consideration of a number of interrelated factors. One of these factors is the interrelationship of technical feasibility, cost, and cost- effectiveness. This report discusses these factors as they relate to varying degrees of BOD removal at Du Pont's Houston Plant. Since the quantities of COD (chemical oxygen demand) and TSS (total suspended solids) discharged in the treated process wastewater will be related to the effectiveness of BOD removal the effect of BOD removal technology on these parameters is also considered.
