The Clean Water Act of 1972 established a goal that would restore and maintain water quality. This act also set up a certain standards in order to achieve the goal established. These standards are called the Water Quality Standards. Each state and territory adopts these standards as laws or regulations. The state designates the uses and adopts the criteria that will be used. This video discusses the Water Quality Standards, the Clean Water Act, and the different regulations set up by each.
