Abstract

In 1990, 183,896,448 red drum (Sciaenops ocellatus) fry and fingerlings were stocked into Texas bays. Upper Laguna Madre received 34,887 fingerling spotted seatrout (Cynoscion nebulosus). Galveston Bay and Sabine Lake received 337,880 striped bass (Morone saxatillis) fingerlings. Stocking saltwater fishes into Texas bays is an integral part of the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department's (TPWD) management program. The present report is a summary of saltwater stockings that occurred in Texas bays during 1975-1990 by or in cooperation with TPWD. The objective of this report is to update saltwater stocking activities. Differences in the number in this report compared to previous versions are due to updating the data base and this report should be considered the most accurate to date.
