Abstract
Modern requirements of port and harbor engineering dem and quantitative precision in problems of increasing complexity. Numerical models based upon physical principles and implemented on high-speed computers now offer a practical, versatile and economical means of treating these problems. Several examples are presented of numerical models of currents and constituent transport (especially sediment) that illustrate applicability to port and harbor development.
