Abstract

This report, fourth in an annual series of basic-data reports, presents data collected during water year 1971 on water conditions in the large estuaries along the Texas coast, other than Galveston Bay. The objectives of the continuing investigations are to define (1) the occurrence, source, and distribution of nutrients; (2) the physical, organic, and inorganic water quality and its areal distribution and time variaton; (3) the chemical and physical characteristics of water which enters the estuaries from the Gulf of Mexico; (4) the occurrence, quality, quantity, and dispersion of drainage entering the estuarine systems; and (5) current patterns, directions, and rates of water movement.
