Abstract
A new type of seed collector was developed and studies were made of spawning and setting in Long Island Sound. Hydrographical and spat collector studies were made in Georgia. In Texas, studies were made on spawning and setting in Galveston Bay, as well as salinities. Investigations on oyster culture were carried on in Washington at Totten Bay, Puget Sound and Willapa Harbor. Studies were carried on at different localities on the effect of temperature on the feeding of Gulf coast and japanese oysters, on their physiology, potential fecundity, and effects of temperature on their heart beat. Surveys of bottoms were made in Alabama and in Delaware Bay a survey of the industry was carried out. The effect of pulp mill wastes was studied as was the control of natural enemies.
