Abstract
The spring population census utilizing two aircraft was initiated March 15, 1971 and terminated March 26, 1971. The total Attwater's prairie chicken population was estimated to be 2,213 birds, up 53.6 percent from 1970. Refugio, Austin, Colorado, Goliad and Wharton counties contained the bulk of prairie chickens counted.
