An estimate of harvest by the Texas charter boat fishery.

The charter boat fishery in surveyed areas of the Texas coast harvested over 900,000 fish in the fiscal year 1979, 71% were taken from the Gulf and 29% from the bays. Red snapper, Lutjanus campechanus, king mackerel, Scomberomorus cavalla, and Spanish mackerel, S. maculatus, constituted the majority (78%) of the Gulf catch. Sand seatrout, Cynoscion arenarius; spotted seatrout, C. nebulosus, Atlantic croaker, Micropogonias undulatus; and kingfish, Menticirrhus sp., constituted the majority of the bay catch. Catch composition within the Gulf and bay varied greatly between party boats (less than or equal to 10 people) and headboats (> 10 people).; $
