Abstract
An investigation of the movement of water masses through the Galveston Harbor area was initiated after Todd Shipyard located on Pelican Island was chosen as a docking area servicing facility for the nuclear powered ship Savannah. Factors which had a direct effect on the direction of the currents were: (1) wind direction, (2) wind duration, (3) wind velocity, (4) shape of shoreline and (5) amount of deep and shallow water.
