Abstract

Crassostrea virginica and Ostrea equestris cultured on offshore oil platforms on the Gulf of Mexico were found being bored by L. bisulcata. L. aristata and Diplothyra smithi. The pholad borers were all from oysters suspended in the upper 4 m of water. The boring mussels were found in oysters suspended throughout the water column.
