Abstract
The systematics and zoogeography of the North and South American Ascidiacea is evaluated. Descriptions and illustrations are provided of the various species comprising this class, including those occurring along the Gulf of Mexico. A nearly complete bibliography of the systematic literature on American ascidians is included.
