Abstract
Five major fish kills occurred in the Trinity River between Dallas County and Lake Livingston during 1971 and 1972. Investigations revealed a depletion of oxygen in the river water. This condition could have resulted from either decomposition of bypassed sewage or from disturbances of organically enriched river bottom sediments caused by increased river flows preceeding and during the fish kills. Due to the reoccurrence of these kills this study is to determine the impact of organic pollution on the fisheries resources of the river.
