Abstract

Twenty-nine Gulf Coast counties in Texas were inventoried by aerial survey for mottled ducks. The March population was one duck per square mile and the August population was .8 ducks per square mile. This is the fourth year to show a decline with a scarcity of fresh water thought to be the primary cause.
