These small black and white photographs document the aftermath of the 'Texas City Disaster,' an industrial disaster set off by an explosion of ammonium nitrate being carried by a ship docked at Texas City. According to the ship's anchor monument in Texas City, 576 people were killed during the event. These photographs were taken by an unknown individual between April 16 and April 21, 1947.
