Abstract
Letter declining an invitation to dine with Mr. Craik and advising on an upcoming club election.
Description
Feb. 24th. 1888.
My dear Craik
I should have liked it very much, but I have promised to dine on Monday at Grillion Club, where I have been very remiss in attendance.
You must not ask men you do not know to vote for you, but your friends and acquaintances you may perfectly well ask to be there if possible. You take for granted they will vote for you, if present; the thing is, to secure their presence.
ever yours sincerely
Matthew Arnold.—
