Interdisciplinary studies can arguably be seen as one of the most important fields of study in all of academia. Interdisciplinary studies are so detrimental that they have been both scrutinized and advocated in several different professional circles. While single disciplinary studies provide specialization in a specific field, most that have gone through an interdisciplinary studies program have come to realize that they have much more to offer because of their interdisciplinary lens. Not only are they able to integrate and synthesize all of their knowledge to better solve the problems they are confronted with, but they are also able to creatively enhance whatever disciplines they may be currently operating. Over all, interdisciplinary studies offer much more than any single discipline can muster and while there will always be critics for this type of degree, it is in the hands of interdisciplinarians everywhere to prove skeptics wrong. |
