Abstract

The purpose of this study was to develop a profile that would predict potential for career success and longevity of new employees of Texas Cooperative Extension. This study explored the combined effects of demographics, program characteristics, and personal characteristics upon job satisfaction. It provided much needed baseline information for a longitudinal study on retention of extension agents in Texas. The information was also correlated to develop a potential employee profile. It was found that there was no correlation between age, gender, county classification, personality type, and creativity levels of Texas Cooperative Extension employees in District 2, with their levels of intrinsic, extrinsic, and general job satisfaction. Though no correlations were found in this particular study, the researcher believes this study should be conducted in other areas of Texas as well as other states to see if differences exist.
