Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine if calisthenics added to a physical education program would alter the physical fitness level of fifth-grade girls*

The three specific hypotheses to be tested were:

  1. Do calisthenics, when combined with tennis and rhythmics activities in a physical education program, alter the physical fitness level of eighth-grade girls?

  2. Do tennis and rhythmic activities, without calisthenics, alter the physical fitness level of eighth-grade girls?

  3. Are there differences in physical fitness performances between two groups of eighth-grade girls, one group of idiom participated in tennis, rhythms and calisthenics, and a second group who participated in only tennis and rhythms?
