Title: Efficient Visualization Of Streaming Sensor Network Data Using Approximation Technique
Author: Pai, Sunil
Abstract: By commanding a large number of wireless sensor nodes capable of sensing , communicating , and computing , wireless sensor networks have revealed their vast potential in a plethora of applications . However , due to the stringent resources limitations on each sensor node ranging from energy and computation to network bandwidth and storage , efficient and light weight systems must be designed in order to accommodate the resource limited environment . Furthermore , due to the potentially large number of sensor nodes deployed , the amount of sensory data gathered therein can be overwhelming for processing and visualizing in a resource limited central controller , such as mobile devices . In this thesis , we describe a data processing and visualization paradigm to handle the large bursts of streaming data from wireless sensor network based monitoring systems . We employ efficient approximation techniques in order to process the information and visualize them in a timely manner as and when data arrives .
