Abstract

Specimens of Paruroctonus boreus were collected from twenty-four sites to assess the geographic variation in behavioral, morphological and molecular traits. Statistical analyses showed males demonstrated a positive response to females from the same population but not females from different populations, and that males exhibit a negative response to males from the same population. Pectine morphology was measured with SEM and demonstrated sexual dimorphism among and within populations. This difference was most apparent in mature individuals. Sequence data from 16S and COI genes suggest there is structure among the populations but this structure does not support a north and south clades or east and west clades.
