Abstract

Ground and aerial surveys of previously located maritime rookeries along the Texas Gulf Coast were conducted, and new rookeries were located during the summers of 1974 and 1975. Most coastal fish-eating bird species seem to be maintaining healthy, stable populations. Species continuing to show low population levels were the brown pelican and white-faced ibis. A survey of inland rookeries in 1974 and 1975 was continued by polling Department wildlife personnel and knowledgeable individuals outside the Department by questionnaire.
