Abstract
The objective of this report is to develop the best possible estimates of the economic value of improving the environmental quality of Galveston Bay given the time and resources available. In order to provide public officials and the general public with an estimate of the economic value of the improvements planned for the Galveston Bay estuary system, GBNEP contracted with the Univeristy of North Carolina at Chapel Hill to carry out a nontraditional economic valuation study. The objective of the research effort was to look broadly at how changes in the environmental quality of the bay would affect its economic value.
