Abstract

A comprehensive water quality analysis and environmental impact assessment was undertaken at the Trinity River as part of a national assessment of anticipated environmental impacts of theoretically achieving or not achieving the requirements and goals of the Federal Water Pollution Control Act Amendments of 1972 (P.L. 92-500). Authors (1) characterized historical and existing water quality and environmental conditions, (2) projected resultant water quality, assuming specific levels of wastewater treatment to point source effluents entering the study site, and (3) anticipated biological, ecological and environmental effects, impacts and benefits to result from projected changes in water quality. This site assessment is one of 41 similar studies conducted for the Environmental Sciences sector of the National Commission on Water Quality
