Title: 1973 Annual report; Water Pollution Control Program.

Abstract: This report details the activities and accomplishments of the City of Houston Water Pollution Control Program. It includes a description of the work procedures used and an analysis of the data collected on the quality of the water in the bayous of the city. Analysis of the data shows definite improvements in the water quality in all six of the major bayous; Sims, Brays, Buffalo, White Oak, Hunting, and Halls-Greens Bayou. There was an overall percentage improvement in dissolved oxygen of 9 percent and a 72.6 percent improvement in oil and grease over 1972. The coliform count was also significantly lower and the biochemical oxygen demand level had an overall average of only 10.2 milligram per liter which is well below the Texas Water Quality Board requirement for intrastate waters.
